Biological and psychological benefits of swimming Swimming is an all round sport. It uses most of the muscles in the body and increases flexibility. One of the major benefits is to the cardiovascular system. The heart and lungs are developed and exercised extensively in the training of a competitive swimmer. The heart muscles that are developed as a child are fundamentally important to that persons long term health. The bigger and stronger you make your heart as a child the better it will serve you in adult life. A well developed heart is one of the best tools against heart disease. As if this
were not incentive enough, swimming at Acton is very enjoyable. There
is a whole new set of friends for you to make and a new social life
to establish. A good time is had by all at regular galas (which include
a wide variety of ability). Confidence is gained learning to deal with
the competitive environment with support given by coaches and team mates
alike. Regular discos and prize givings are also part of the annual
calendar. So if you are interested in joining our thriving club please
come along and have a trial. |
