5th March 2005 PRESS RELEASE FROM ACTON SWIMMING CLUB Acton Swimming Club had a hugely successful day at Bracknell Masters Open Meet on Saturday 5th March. They took a team of 8 swimmers and ended up the 6th placed club out of 46 competing clubs, many of them with much larger squads.The total medal count, including relays, was 19. Acton's top swimmer was Malcolm Munro in the 55-59 year age group who won gold in the 100 metres backstroke, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals. Other medalists in individual events were David Mathison [60-64 years] with 3 silvers, Martin Fox[50-54] with 1 silver and 2 bronze, David Brown [50-54] - 1 silver and 1 bronze, Anthony Kay[40-44]with 1 silver and Trevor Porter[50-54] with 2 bronze medals. However the club left their best performances until the end when the relays took place. For the first time they entered 2 teams in the 2005 year winning gold and bronze in the 4x 25 metres freestyle relays and gold in the 4x25 metres medley relay. Other swimmers who competed in the relays were Graham Allison and Ian Pritchard. Acton Masters
