Middlesex Masters Swimming Championships

Acton Masters took a squad of 14 swimmers to the Middlesex Masters Swimming Championships held at Enfield Pool on Sunday, 26th June, and came away with a record haul of 20 medals and sixth place overall out of a total of 15 clubs. Top medal winner was Bridget Preston in the 50-54 age group who won gold medals in the 50m buterfly and 100m individual medley as well as three silver medals. Malcolm Munro managed to take home four individual medals, including a gold in the 50m backstroke, two silvers and a bronze. Other swiimers to capture silver were Davis Mathinson with two, Anthony Kay, Davis Brown and Graham Allison. Bronze medals were won by Gareth Whisson, Alison Muggridge and Ken Adey. Acton were up against stiff competition in the various relays, but managed to register a silver medal in the 4X25m freestyle relay where the team of Anthony Kay, Tony Pepper, Malcolm Munro and David Mathison battled to an excellent 2nd place in a best club time of 55.11 seconds. Other swimmers in the squad who all took part in both individual and relays were Danlelle Long, Martin Fox, Sally Kelly and Trevor Porter.
