Club News | Swimming Sessions

We would like you to remember a few general points about swimming sessions.

- We have had a request that spectators go upstairs to watch and keep the entrance doors from the corridor to the pool clear for safety reasons.

- It helps greatly if sessions start promptly, and it is important that swimmers warm up properly. So please make sure that you turn up a few minutes before the session start-time, to give yourself time to get changed and ready. We realise that swimmers often rely on parents with busy lives to get them to the pool on time, but please remember that it disrupts others' swimming if people are getting into the water after the session has started.

- Please can you ensure all children leave all clothes and belongings in a kit bag and try and use a locker. They can leave a bag tidily in a cubicle under the seat but it is best to put it in a locker for security and safety reasons. They must not leave their clothes scattered all around. There are not enough cubicles for everyone and change-over time is impossible if the children leave their things out everywhere.

- Unless your child has a crew cut we remind him / her to wear a swimming hat as hair clogs up the filters and interferes with swimming.

- To ensure the safety of all who use the pool it is very important that young children in particular remain with their parents/carers and are not allowed to run through the corridors. Swimmers are also expected to conduct themselves in a polite and decent manner both in the pool and outside.

- Now we have a safe balcony and decent seats we would like to encourage parents/ carers to stay and support their children throughout the sessions. If you stay it not only encourages the kids; it also helps the Club, as swimming coaches are only responsible for the children in their groups for the duration of their lesson.

- If your child has been picked to swim in a Gala, could you please let Danielle know as soon as possible whether or not she/he is available. Danielle tries really hard to select the most suitable team but she has a list of reserves she can call on if she knows of an absence in advance.

- It would be much appreciated if the parents/carers of children who have been chosen to swim in Galas could pick them up promptly. All children are given the opportunity of phoning home from the coach to let you know what time they will be arriving back so there should be no children left stranded.
